The Ascot District Day Centre is situated on the Bagshot Road at the end of Sunninghill High Street and was founded in 1978. It is a non government funded charity that relies on grants and charitable donations.
The Centre has a staff of 6, and on weekdays, it opens its doors to the over 60’s. Weekday visitors enjoy morning coffee, a two course lunch and afternoon tea as well as a variety of activities such as tai chi, carpet bowls and sing-alongs. On Saturdays, the centre offers a quieter day when qualified nursing care is available for those requiring extra medical attention, thereby offering carers the opportunity to have a day to themselves.
Amongst the services on offer are hairdressing, chiropody, a prescription collection service and a fully equipped bathroom with a hoist, for those requiring assisted bathing. For members who have difficulty in attending, a meals on wheels service operates which is particularly vital in the cold winter months.
The Centre’s own minibuses (which are equipped with tail lifts) are used to take members to and from their homes in the local area.
Once a week the Centre provides a venue for the CAB to provide an outreach service which is open to everyone in the community, and it regularly opens its doors to the thriving local Brownies and Guides Troops when they need extra space.
The Sunninghill Trust provides funding on a regular basis to ensure this valuable local resource can continue its work at the heart of the community.
