Welcome to
Sunninghill Trust

Our main objectives are distributions of grants for the relief of hardship, assistance to the sick and elderly, and support of recreational and educational facilities.

What we’re about

As a trusted organisation with a long and rich history of serving our community, we strive to provide financial grants to individuals and groups within the local areas of Sunninghill, Ascot and Cheapside. Our grants seek to provide relief of hardship, assistance to the sick and elderly, and to support recreational and educational facilities.

The Trust also has land that it prioritises for use of the local residents as allotments, parks, sports fields, woodlands, and grazing paddocks.

Novello Theatre in Sunninghill

The Sunninghill Trust, a charity with over 200 years of history providing support to the residents of the Sunninghill and South Ascot parish, has secured the ownership of the Novello Theatre in Sunninghill.

This innovative deal secures the Theatre for public use following a successful campaign by the Save the Novello Picture House group to highlight the plight of the Novello Theatre.

Under the new structure the Sunninghill Trust will own the building and provide an affordable lease to the Cordes Hall charity who will be running the Theatre.

Commenting on the purchase, a spokesperson for the Sunninghill Trust commented “We are delighted to announce our significant support for this project by bringing an under-utilised asset back into community use. The theatre sits right in the heart of our support area. We look forward to working closely with the Cordes Hall charity on this project.”

Before any lease can be granted there will be a considerable amount of work required to refurbish the building and bring it up to a modern standard (the initial phase). The funding for the purchase and initial phase will come from the Sunninghill Trust. This will allow the Cordes Hall charity to use their funds raised and being raised on the internal fit out, specific audio-visual equipment and more widely supporting the running of the theatre (the fit out phase).

The initial phase of the project is expected to take over 12 months.

Responding to the news, Alan Everett from The Save the Novello Campaign Group and a Trustee of the Cordes Hall, commented: “This is a fantastic outcome for local people, and we are deeply grateful to the Sunninghill Trust for their support. We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Trust during the initial refurbishment phase and ultimately bringing to life our vision for a vibrant, local arts centre – running the Cordes Hall and Picturehouse Theatre buildings as one versatile performance and events hub, on behalf of the community.”
